Moroni, the largest city of the Comoros islands. Mr. Ahmed Abdallah declared unilateral independence from
France on Saturday, 6 July 1975, at 1:30 pm. This occurred after a majority vote with no dissenters in the House of Deputies, renamed the National Assembly.

The obvious feature of this moment is that there were no visiting heads-of-state. There was none of the ceremonial pomp. It  was straight politics. France took the declaration in stride. In June of 2008, I contacted the Ambassador’s Assistant to the Permanent Mission of the Union of the Comoros at the United Nations. I asked him about the birth time of Comoros. He made many calls over a few days. He got the time from a certain Mr. Said Abdou Salime, a retired Comorian, who worked in an Egyptian Consulate. According to the Permanent Mission, Mr. Abdou was there and knew the exact time. He even held the microphone for Mr. Ahmed Abdallah during the declaration.

Monday, 27 November 1989. T Mars/Pluto conjunction (in the 1st House) was square the Prog. MC. The transiting Moon’s preceding conjunction, about six hours earlier, was with Pluto. These two planets had already completed an opposition to Prog. Mars, ruler of the 7th House (tension with the government). The incumbent President Ahmed Abdallah intending to be president for life, was assassinated at midnight.

The focus of the aspects was the 10th House, and therefore represented a new iteration of Comoros’ government. This is an important example of how the head-of-state personifies the government and how both are reflections
of each another. The charts are calculated for Moroni at 1:30 pm.
